Purge-it Version 5.3 is available

These partner release notes are to support the release of
Purge-it V5.3, also referred to as the 530F release.

Version 5.3 is a significant Purge-it software release
focused on improving the following areas of enterprise
data archiving within JD Edwards EnterpriseOne:

  • Operational control

JD Edwards Oracle database optimisations

Introduction

The major theme of this release is giving customers better visibility, more control and simpler tools for managing Purge-it in live operational environments.
Version 5.3 builds on the data lifecycle management capability introduced in V5.2.

V5.3 strengthens the Purge-it message beyond archive execution alone.
It provides functionality that helps customers manage exceptions, validate configuration, support environment refresh activity and monitor archive processing with greater confidence.

The release also contains smaller enhancements and maintenance updates driven by customer requests and product support activity. These will be covered in the full technical release notes.

Release Detail - The following major features are included in V5.3 of Purge-it

Exception Message Workbench

V5.3 introduces a new Exception Message Workbench application. This provides a central place to review all exception messages for a Purge-it session and to investigate the JD Edwards transactions that caused those exceptions.

For customers, this makes archive issue investigation much easier. Rather than relying on manual review of data, administrators have a more direct way to understand why data was selected, held up or excluded from archive processing.

Business Value

• Faster investigation of archive exceptions

• Reduced administration effort during testing and go-live

• Improved confidence when reviewing archive results

Exception Override Handling

V5.3 extends the Purge-it exception framework by implementing override handling for eligible messages.

This gives customers more flexibility when dealing with known business scenarios where an exception is understood, accepted, and should not unnecessarily prevent archive processing.

Business Value

• Greater archive flexibility

• Fewer operational delays caused by known exceptions

• A stronger controlled-processing message for regulated customers

Purge-it Configuration Report

A new Purge-it Configuration Report has been added to display the current configuration of the Purge-it environment.

This is useful during implementations, upgrades, customer support reviews, and troubleshooting. It provides a practical way to check settings and identify potential configuration issues before they become project delays or operational problems.

Business Value

• Improved implementation quality

• Faster support and troubleshooting

• Easier environment reviews for customers and partners

Automated Job Cancellation Controls

V5.3 includes improved cancellation controls across the main archive reports. New processing option settings allow customers to define when an archive job should auto-cancel if it is still running.

This is particularly useful where archive processing must be controlled around business hours, batch windows, maintenance windows, or other operational constraints.

Business Value

• Better operational governance

• Reduced risk of jobs running beyond agreed windows

• Easier alignment with production operations teams

Data Refresh Scenarios Application

A new application has been created to hold Data Refresh Scenarios. This application describes common Purge-it issues that can occur when customers refresh test or non-production environments and suggests remedial actions.

This is a valuable support and implementation aid because environment refreshes are common in JD Edwards estates. It helps customers and partners address predictable issues more quickly and consistently.

Business Value

• Faster non-production refresh support

• Reduced reliance on support calls for known scenarios

• Better customer self-sufficiency

Dashboard and Operational Visibility Improvements

V5.3 continues the investment in Purge-it dashboards and operational visibility. Enhancements include better visibility of AR and AP batch builds and further improvements to session dashboard information.

For customers running Purge-it as part of regular operational data management, this improves their ability to track activity, understand progress, and monitor the outcome of archive processing.

Business Value

• Improved monitoring of archive activity

• Clearer operational reporting

• Better visibility for business and technical teams

Audit and Compliance Enhancements

V5.3 includes enhancements that support audit and compliance requirements, including improvements around 21 CFR audit table handling.

This reinforces Purge-it as an enterprise-grade data lifecycle management solution for JD Edwards customers, particularly where auditability and controlled processing are important selection criteria.

Business Value

• Stronger compliance message

• Improved support for regulated environments

• Better positioning for customers with formal retention and audit requirements

Reliability, Stability and Product Refinement

Alongside the larger functional additions, V5.3 includes a series of product refinements across Inventory, Purchasing, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and core Purge-it infrastructure.

These changes continue the normal Purge-it release pattern of incorporating customer feedback and support learnings into the standard product. The result is a more mature, easier to operate, and more supportable archiving solution.

Business Value

• Reduced support friction

• Improved product maturity

• Better customer experience during operation
